Tradition and Tide: Life on the Mekong

For generations, the Mekong River has shaped life in southern Vietnam. In Cần Thơ, families built their homes and livelihoods on the water, trading fruit, rice and vegetables between drifting boats at dawn.

Today, that rhythm is changing. Floating markets that once defined the delta grow quieter as modern infrastructure and inland trade take hold. The river still carries stories of resilience, but the way of life that once sustained it is slowly disappearing.

This project documents those who remain on the water, holding onto tradition as the tide of progress moves steadily inland.
